Today we went to a Film festival at the Regent Theatre, It was good because you good to see and learn things about other schools and about Greymouth.

In my opinion, the best was from some of the girls in our class, they did it on a robbery. But every school had at least one good one that caught me.

Next year for BtB is some of the films need better music because in some of them I couldn't hear them.

Overall all of the films were great but for some of them, they need to get up close with the camera.

Term #3 Reflection

Term #3 Reflection!

This term was a good term, On Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays each morning we did Jamp Jam.
But not the Year 7&8's because of tech on Thursday.
This really woke everyone up in the morning so we had more energy starting the day. We started off
with two dances but now after this term, we know heaps of different dances. 

At break times we also started a new thing called lunchtimes clubs, Each committee would have to run
a lunchtime club like for example, we ran games like Skeleton tag, Capture the flag and way more games
over the term. When we started a lot of people showed up but then as the term moved on no one
showed up. So we ended up making it 2 days a week instead of doing a game every lunchtime. 

At the end of the last term, I set three goals. One of them was to get better at times table. I think I passed
that goal by a mile. My goal was to be able to answer all times tables in under five seconds which I can
do easily now. Next term I’d like to do the same thing but with division or order of operations. Another one
of my goals was punctuation I think I got better at using punctuation but could still get way better at it,
And my last goal was to read a book over 100 pages and be able to answer questions about it. Well, I
did read a book over 100 pages but didn’t really remember much of it so I’d like to try to do that again.

Last term we went to Shantytown and learnt a lot of the history behind Greymouth, and at the start of this
term we had to do a project on something we learnt when we went so I did it on greenstone, I learnt so
much about greenstone. I learnt where the best place to find greenstone is and how to polish the
greenstone.

Overall this was a great term we had so much stuff on and I’m excited about next term.

Speech (MAIN) Having a Parent as a Coach

Having a Parent as a Coach

See I told you it will work Jack, Says dad. Because I thought the move wouldn’t
work. Hi, my name is Jack and today I will be giving you an amazing speech
about the ups and downs of having a parent as a coach.

When your parent first agrees to coach, your probably really excited. Because
of More minutes, he might not be as mean and as strict as other coaches. Well,
Your WRONG! When my dad was the coach that wasn’t the story. I got the
same exact minutes as everyone else. And not being mean and as strict if
you’re a parent is the coach is WRONG aswell. One time we were playing a fun
game at training and next thing I turn around to get the ball BANG dads there
to bowl me over. Bet u he wouldn’t do that to the others. I just got up and
started playing defence even harder and made sure I didn’t let him do that
again.

To be honest, having a parent as a coach isn’t all the bad. It’s cool knowing
whats happening at training before training has already started because of
your parent asking you for your opinion on a set move we have. Another thing
I personally liked having a parent as a coach was normally when you don’t
know the coach you're a bit shy and if you are unsure of something you're too
shy to get help but if your parent coaches you know them really well and won't
be shy to ask anything.

The awkwardness after losing a game and not knowing what to say to each
other about the game is so weird. After a win, the vibe is way different to a
losing vibe at home and at trainings. Which sucked after a loss. One time after
a game we had lost a game after losing 4 in a row me and my dad didn’t talk
for ages because of how mad we were.

But you think all that's bad, that's just the start. The most embarrassing thing
is my dad going nuts on the sideline arguing with the refs. Sometimes I think
he's going to get kicked out of the arena and we’ll have to coach ourselves.
One time one of my friends from the other team was shooting a free throw and
dads screaming out Miss miss MISS!! To try and distract him, Well that didn’t
work because he made the shot and laughed at dad. 

In conclusion, these are some of the ups and downs of having your parent as
a coach, but I totally recommend you asking your parent to coach your next
team your in because its a great bonding experience and you get some
funny stories out of it. Thank you for listening to my speech

Addition And Subtraction D.L.O

NBA - Finals Blog X Post

In the last 5 NBA finals, the Golden State Warriors have been in the NBA Finals. As you know from my other blog posts Golden State is my favourite team. In four out of the five times going to the NBA finals the warriors have played against the Cleveland Cavaliers but this year they are playing the Toronto Raptors which will be a bit harder than the last couple of years because of golden states best players was injured. He ruptured his Achilles. And the Raptors have one of the best players on the planet. Kawhi Leonard. In the finals, it's first to 4 wins out of 7 games. And the Raptors have won 3 and the Warriors have got 2 wins. 

Persuasive Writing.

In my opinion, I think all kids should get a choice of learning a new language and I’ll be explaining why I feel like that.

If you learn a language it could help you through life, Like applying for a job, saying you can speak Chinese, It could help you If you have to deal with someone that isn’t that good at speaking English or whatever language you are. A good example I came up with this, If you were working at a counter at a cafe, Someone comes to order food and they can’t speak your language, And you know a bit of there language, that could help you understand what they’re trying to say.

Also learning one language could help you learn other languages quicker, How? Because you might’ve loved learning another language before and has inspired you to learn many more.

Another really important reason is if you want to learn a language make sure It’s you’re choice of what language it is. Because then you’ll be excited to learn it and you won’t like be slacking off and talking to you’re friends you will be learning a lot because you will be interested in the language you are learning and will be excited you’re about to learn it.

In conclusion, I think everyone should get a choice of learning a new language but I totally recommend learning one.

#1 WPCA Rafting Challenge -reflection-

The other day we went rafting, Well not me. Just the other Y8’s. I didn’t because I was anxious and was frightened by the fast-moving water and many more reasons. In the morning I was told that I wasn’t even gonna go out to the river I was told I was just going to school like a normal day. But when I got to school my gear was there. I ended up going to the polytech and doing all the games, Which I was proud of because I normally wouldn’t have even gone in the fan. I still enjoyed the trip to the Arnold river though because there was a very funny instructor called Rueben he told us a very funny joke it was, Why did the pancake cross the road “Why,” because he wanted to get a flatmate. Which I absolutely loved. He also made some hot raro and he was filling us up on raro and we were all laughing so much. Overall it was still a pretty good trip.

My NBA experience

Last year in about November I went to two NBA games in Los Angeles and San Francisco, well technically not because it was in Oakland which is next to San Francisco. The teams I went and saw were Golden State (Which Is my favourite) Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. In the games, the Lakers one but Golden state lost. Which I wasn't happy about, because they are my favourite and I like them to win most of them.

Hello there, as u can tell by my background I like basketball and a certain player and team. My favourite player is Stephen Curry and he plays for the Golden State Warriors which is my favourite team. Steph Curry has 3 NBA Finals 2 MVP's and is the best 3 point shooter in the world. The other day we made Anzac art with Mrs Reed, we had to use coffee or tea to dye over the paper and also use PVA glue to stick the things onto the flower.

The Journey Of The 4, J's Run! **Reflection**

Today 26/9/18 Was my last 2.8k Run to 4, J's. I had been doing this 2.8k run since I was 9 and now I'm Twelve. Three years of waking up every single day and just running my guts out until I feel sick. The first time I ever did the run I got a twenty-one minute run over the last 3 years I've got way fitter from the run and has pushed me to be getting a reasonable thirteen minute run. When you think back to the first time I ran it seems like I started yesterday,  The spewing the injuries was what made the journey of the run the best. Getting back from you're Four-Teen minute run and running I mean sprinting into the bushes to vomit.

When you run you get a reward. Not like a treat or anything from the teacher, your body gives it to you, It's like a boost of energy for the rest of the day. I also really haven't mentioned anything about my fitness. For our school basketball, the run really helped us in the hardest quarter of our games. The other team would be getting tired and we would still be playing at the same pace as we were at the start.

Even though we won't be running any longer, I'm going to keep my fitness up. The run hasn't just only helped my fitness it's encouraged me to keep my fitness up. I hope our new teachers next term can keep doing the run at least Two days a week, Thanks.

Social Studys gaming addiction

My Opinion: Parents should set a time limit on their PlayStation if they’re using one or turn the wifi router off and only turn it back on when their child is asleep. So my opinion is parents shouldn’t ban their kids just set a time limit.

How to stop your kid from getting an addiction to technology: Parents can stop kids from getting an addiction by being very strict with the amount of time they get on their console or technology.

How many hours do I play a day: Probably 1-3 hours a day normally3 when its raining but not as much as that when its fine.

Social Study's Poll Tax

My opinion on the Poll Tax: It’s dumb to jury people on there rase but all the other people got in for free they just targeted the Chinese

Why was it targeting Chinese: Because they’re racist

What is a poll tax? Its charging people to come into the country

Did they ever get paid back: Yes you can apply and get funding for stuff.

What was the yellow peril: The Yellow Peril is a racist colour-metaphor

My opinion: The teachers should get a pay rise because there isn’t anyone training to be a teacher
because they won't be getting enough money

Why is this happening: Because there aren’t enough teachers because the teachers do not get enough
money.

What I think should happen next: Teachers should go on strike until they get an agreement with
the government.

How does going on strike affect kids: We miss a day of quality learning and
parents have to work from home

Social Studys #3 Vietnam War

My Opinion: There should be half and half of each Communism and Capitalism a good comparison is New Zealand, when you go to a doctor and you’re under the age of 18 they pay for it but with Capitalism none of that happens, Also when you retire you don’t get a pention but here we do.

What Happened: People were fighting over Communism and Capitalism. America was worried about the spread of communism.

When: 1955, 1975. During that time millions of people got killed.

Why did this happen: America started to fight because they were getting scared of communism being brought into America.

What happened/how were they fighting: The USA was trying to stop the spread of communism in the south of Vietnam. The Viet Cong used a surprise attack by tunnelling and ambushing the American soldiers.

What is the peace movement: University students in the USA didn’t support the war or violence and started protests all across America. The war was unpopular. It was unpopular with lots of Americans. Which is odd because they were fighting for America...There was no clear objective. They didn’t declare war. The media made it seem unwinnable as the news showed body counts each day.

What was New Zealand’s involvement: We were allies of America through ANZUS!

(My Opinion) It was unfair how some people kept their jobs and over people got their houses raided and got sent back to there home.



What Happened: After world war 2 there some difficulty with jobs, mainly bosses were giving free jobs away to overseas workers.


When did this happen: Mid 1970’s to the early 80’s.


Why did this happen? The police were kicking people out because people didn’t have working visas even though they said they could stay and that caused lots of racism.


Why was there difficulty with jobs? Because everyone was running out of working visas that were from the Pacific islands.

Chess Tournament Reflection.

It, Was so fun!! Won 5 games out of 7! Woke up quickly got ready and sprinted down to school and saw everyone in the busses, I started to freak out and started to sprint over to the bus and quickly jumped in. On the way there I didn't really talk because I'd just woke up and I was really nervous. When I got there I played a friendly game with Lochie, He won obviously because he is super good at chess, just before he checkmated me Bruce started to go over the rules. I knew them already but I still listened, straight after he finished going over the rules I played my first game against Griffen, He's also super good. I lost to him but it took him a while to beat me. I went 0-2 in my first two games then won 3 then lost another 2 and finished off with 2 wins. I loved it so much and I can't wait for next time. I got a silver medal and a certificate.

Social Study SLAM!

I personally think mining shouldn’t be banned but for this bit of writing, I got drawn out of a hat to write about why it should be banned so let's start. I think the idea of stopping mining is good because people will be running out of coal which means people won't have coal for there fires, which means people might start getting heat pumps instead of a fire and could help stop global warming. It could also save peoples lives if the mine blew up and people got stuck and starved to death. Like pike river mine. Mining is an old-fashioned source of energy. If you mine coal it doesn’t come back! But if you cut trees down they grow back! And trees absorb carbon. SO PEOPLE WAKE UP WATER IS RISING AND WILL DESTROY ALL COUNTRIES. AND WE WILL HAVE TO EVACUATE WITH THE POWERFUL ROCKETS THAT WE HAVE AND WILL LAUNCH US TO JUPITER.
